Kiritimati, Pacific Ocean

SALTWATER FISHING PARADISE

Located in the Pacific Ocean Christmas Island is one of the best year round bonefishing locations on the planet

christmas-island map.jpeg

In the centre of the Pacific Ocean are 33 low-lying coral atolls collectively known as Kiribati 'Kiribas'. Located a four and a half hour flight from Fiji, Christmas Island is a fishing paradise teeming with life and amazing opportunities.

Christmas Island is a fishing paradise deep in the Pacific, renowned for its seemingly unlimited fishing options. A fly fishing mecca rivalled by few its an absolute must in any fisherman's lifetime.

With large numbers of bonefish, triggers and GT's this place is incredible, you could spend weeks exploring the island and only scratch the surface of the potential!

As with all bone fishing trips, there are good days, bad days and then there are days where you just get skunked! The tide, wind and weather all factor into your ability to see and make accurate presentations to entice a bite but there is always realistic potential for a big haul and both novices and experts are sure to enjoy themselves.

Even after just a couple of days on a Christmas Island fishing tour, beginners will be able to at least double their catch. The more experienced sports fisher will be able to average 15-20 good 1-5 pound class (as well a few bigger ones possible) fish a day, with even 30+ being possible if the conditions are perfect.

Watch out though, anglers are spooled by big ones at least once a week!

One factor that strikes all visitors during this bone fishing tour is the seemingly endless flats of sand and coral that stretch out in front of them. Even those anglers who have returned many times are continually amazed by the new areas of clean and clear water they discover.

Christmas Island Lodge

Formerly known as the Captain Cook Hotel Christmas Island Lodge is quickly becoming the most sort after operation on the island and for good reason.

Perfectly positioned close by the airport, with quick access to the lagoon and much closer to famous locations such as Huff Dam and the Korean Wreck than the other lodges on the island.

The fishing is endless, each day rising early to a nice breakfast and freshly brewed coffee, choose your own adventure or follow the guides advice, let them know your target, your style and they will put you where you need to be.

Cast a spin rod, fly or both!

Christmas Island is a world class fly fishing location for bonefish, triggers, GT's and many other species, there's a lot of options right on your doorstep!

We tried our hand at using a light spin rod and it was a hell of a lot of fun!

We will provide a detailed packing list so you know exactly what you need whether its bonefish, triggers or monster GT we have all the good oil for you.

The expertly trained guides - will look after you (and your gear) from start to finish, they will spot a fish from miles away, all you have to do is trust them and cast!

The accomodation is very comfortable all with ensuites, large beds, air con, fans and a fully stocked fridge. A menu utilising local and fresh tucker flown in from Honolulu weekly will keep you well fed.

This is an all inclusive package so you don't have to worry about that huge bar bill at the end of the week!

With slick logistics, good planning, well maintained vehicles and an esky full of beer, water and a packed lunch you can just sit back, enjoy the ride and catch fish knowing you are in good hands.

Getting There & Back

Christmas Island is serviced by just one flight a week on a Tuesday night out of Nadi in Fiji, we recommend getting to Nadi a day early to then catch the red eye flight at 2330 from Nadi to Christmas Island arriving at 0630 in the morning on the Wednesday. Departure back to Nadi is the following Wednesday departing at 1500.

Remember when booking with Angling Adventures you pay no more than going direct to the lodge but receive our support, honest reviews and detailed info.
